Portfolio - Always aiming to exceed expectations
Here are just a few examples of the projects I have been involved in and the feedback on my performance:
TNS
I worked at TNS from 1994-2005. I started as an account manager, moved up the ranks to marketing manager, then senior marketing manager, and eventually international marketing director.
Chris Goard, former Head of Marketing, TNS, July 2010

In addition, Rossanne identifies business issues and develops a suitable marketing strategy as well as implements the plan, as she did with the Key Account Management programme she put in place at TNS. She works well independently but is also a great team player and is a considerate, yet firm, team leader who expects the best from her staff and more from herself. Her organisational and attention to detail skills are top notch. She played a key role in the international rebranding of TNS in 2003 and proved an asset to my team time and time again."
Market Research Benevolent Association (contract)
As the part-time Marketing Manager for the industry’s independent charity since 2008, I am responsible for developing and implementing its marketing plan. My main focus has been on raising awareness by encouraging more people in financial need to access its loans and grants, as well as encouraging donations from industry supporters.

“ For the last few years Rossanne Lee Bertram has worked as a consultant to the Market Research Benevolent Association, her main task being to enhance its visibility and support across the UK market research industry as a whole. She has done this superbly, adding an unprecedented professionalism to the MRBA’s marketing efforts. In particular, she has rejuvenated the association’s newsletter ‘MRBA Matters’ by editing it with fresh creative ideas, and she has shown initiative and commitment in helping with various fundraising events and the development of the MRBA website, and added a new degree of professionalism to our advertising. At the same time she has been meticulous in administrative matters ensuring there have been no cost over-runs, and she has worked well with the Trustees. Altogether her work has been of great value to the MRBA and she has been a pleasure to work with.” Visit www.mrba.org.uk for more information about the association.
BW Consulting (contract)
BW Consulting contracted me over the past two years to support several business development initiatives.
Barbara Wilmot of BW Consulting
“I have worked with Rossanne for more than 10 years. Firstly while we were colleagues at TNS and more recently when I engaged her marketing and communications consultancy to organise events, and produce marketing materials for my clients.

“Rossanne has the unique ability to understand the ‘big picture’ of a client’s business and then hone in on the key issues affecting that business. She has the insight to create, develop and implement marketing campaigns that help a business succeed and she excels at implementing and delivering her plans down to the last detail, on time and on budget.
“Something else I value about Rossanne is that she is able to grasp quite technical issues and terms, and translate them into plain English so customers and potential clients understand the benefits rather than the features of a product or service. Rossanne also does ‘strategy’ extremely effectively. I recommend her as she is fast, efficient, thorough, completely professional and reliable.

Telamon Communications (contract)
– Italy – 2009
With a colleague who specialises in web analytics and optimisation, we developed a traditional and digital marketing strategy for the Swiss Education Group (SEG), a premier hotel management education provider in Switzerland, advising them how to increase their market share and redevelop their current website to attract more online student enquiries and enrolments.
Andrea Holland, Telamon Communications, July 2009
“I have known Rossanne for over 20 years. Initially we worked together at Infomart in Canada and reconnected when we both moved to Europe. Recently I employed Rossanne to develop a marketing strategy for my client, SEG in Switzerland. (read more.).
Unfamiliar with the hospitality industry, Rossanne researched the market and finding out what potential students would be looking for in a hospitality management school. As no business or marketing plan existed, she developed a questionnaire for the client to glean out all the background information she needed to produce an insightful, creative marketing plan. In addition her numerous recommendations on how SEG could differentiate itself in this competitive marketplace went well beyond her remit. Her plan then enabled me to develop a comprehensive digital marketing plan which more than met the client's brief and expectations. I plan to work with Rossanne again soon, and rate her strategic marketing skills very highly.

OpenAir Networks
John Ridley, Director OpenAir Networks- SW England, June 2010
In John’s previous start-up company, he needed some basic sales materials, so I developed a PowerPoint presentation that highlighted the benefits their product addressed in the marketplace. In addition I prepared a technical information sheet outlining what the product did and how it worked. I am currently working with John again on another venture called OpenAir Networks.

“Rossanne is an extremely professional marketing consultant with exceptional integrity, highly credible skills and ability. Her intelligence and vision are balanced by her ability to simply cut through to the core issues right down through technical products quickly and then develop marketing material and sales presentations, written from the point of view of the potential client.
“Perhaps most extraordinarily, as Rossanne builds an understanding of the product, she will challenge the concept of a product, its delivery and benefit to customers and users. This helps her in her work to stress the benefits of the product and service rather than just the technical features and helps those working with her to rethink and review the objectives from a customer perspective. I would highly recommend Rossanne and I am working with her again on my new venture.” John Ridley, OpenAir Networks, June 7, 2010.
Somerset County Council (contract)
1. Skills & Learning
Since moving to Somerset in 2005, I have worked on a number of different marketing contracts within the Somerset County Council including developing a webcasting feasibility study; managing the marketing for the Skills and Learning team; and numerous other ad hoc projects for the Council’s Corporate Communications team.
Holly Cole, former Senior Manager, Skills & Learning, Somerset County Council
"I hired Rossanne on a one-year+ part-time contract to manage our marketing. Without any background in UK adult education, Rossanne got to grips with the task and hit the ground running. (read more.)
“Managing to pull together our 75+page course catalogue efficiently, writing and developing a pullout promotional piece on all our programmes for a newspaper insert, as well as a creating a radio advert, Rossanne achieved all of this all on time, on budget and on only 3 days a week. She worked well with all her colleagues and used her strong communications skills most effectively.
“She is a good writer and organiser and I really enjoyed working with her. In addition, we asked her to stay on to try and sort out some technical hiccups with our online course finder which saw her working closely with our IT/web team as well as our outside supplier to move the project forward. She makes things happen and gets things done."
2. Marketing & Communications
I joined the Marketing & Communications team at Somerset County Council the second year after moving to Somerset on a one year contract. I was re-employed in January 2008 and stayed for another year on a 2-days a week project.
Anne Brayley, currently Head of Marketing, Somerset College, July, 2010
"I have known Rossanne for almost five years and employed her on a short-term contract basis several times, while Manager of the Communications team at Somerset County Council

“She approaches each project in a systematic, organised and inquisitive way. Always diplomatic, she learned how to get things done and how to work with people in local government quite quickly. Rossanne does not accept things on face value and asks questions to ensure she develops the most appropriate strategy and implementation plan to get the job done and is always very cost conscious. She is a strong team player and is always very encouraging and supportive of other team members.
"One of the things I like about Rossanne is that I can give her an initial brief quickly. Calling on her vast experience and problem solving skills, she just seemed to know instinctively what to do and how to get any project done, even if she had not done it before, and she always kept me in the loop throughout the process. She was a pleasure to work with and I would recommend to any organisation. “
Somerset College (contract)
I recently completed a 6 month contract at Somerset College, working for Anne Brayley again. I was responsible for organising and delivering both College’s Higher Education Awards and University Graduation Ceremonies within a tight 6 week time period.
